The result is noticed after a few hours, however it is the
next morning that the optical effect is fully appreciated with a visual recovery
between 70 and 90 %. The visual recovery will be quicker if the initial handicap
is low.
As a matter of fact, if the myopia rate is low or moderate, the patient gets
his independance back the next day.
If the initial amount of refractive error is high, the recovery is slower
and can last a few days, or even a week for high myopias.
The ability to treat this visual handicap depends on individual parameters,
the initial curvature of the cornea, its thickness which is calculated by
pre-operative "pachymetry", the dioptric level, the curvature quality
which is analyzed by pre-operative topography, the age of the patient etc...
The recovery level is estimated before the operation: the ability to get rid
of glasses and contact lenses is determined according to all the pre-operative
elements, then an idea of the recovery percentage is given to the future patient.
One can have a very high possibility not to wear glasses anymore close to
a 100%, when one can be informed that he will, in some circumstances, have
to wear his glasses to drive or to watch a movie in order to correct a residual
disorder.

The operation is very efficient. It is rare that the patient
needs to wear glasses or contact lenses after the operation.
This efficiency rate depends on the initial handicap. Speaking to the doctor
during visits prior to the operation is necessary because it allows to focus
with the future patient on the post-operative objective.
consequences
The operated eye is not weakened. However, in the few weeks
or months following the operation, it is recommended to respect this operation
by avoiding any violent trauma by contact or pressure.
A post-operative supervision by the surgeon or the ophthalmologist is necessary
for 3 months after the operation.
A regular visit to the ophthalmologist is recommended to control retinal risks
that are linked to the corrected myopia.
The operation does not act on the risks linked to the eye itself
